Switching addresses is easy. You don’t have to cancel your contract or sign up again. We’ll simply transfer your existing Vrijopnaam contract to your new address. That way, you stay supplied with green solar energy, no matter where you go.

Step-by-step: Let us know you’re moving

  • Open the Vrijopnaam app and log in
  • Tap the menu in the top right corner
  • Select ‘Report a move’
  • Enter your new address and moving date

We’ll take care of the rest! ✅

No problem! Just send us an email with:

  • Your new address
  • Your moving date (key handover of both the old and new home)

Which situation applies to you?

We’ll help you get started. Below are the three most common situations:

1️⃣ You’re already a customer and taking us with you

Great! Arrange your move in the app:

  • Menu (top right) --> 'Verhuizing doorgeven' (meaning: report a move)
  • Enter address & moving date
  • Done!

2️⃣ You’re not a customer yet, but want to be

Welcome! Sign up via our homepage and we’ll supply 100% solar power at your new address.
Don’t forget to cancel your old energy contract yourself.

3️⃣ You’re not taking Vrijopnaam with you

Sad to see you go 😢

  • Go to Menu (top right) --> 'Opzeggen' (meaning: cancel) in the app
  • Keep in mind: 30-day cancellation notice
  • For fixed contracts, a cancellation fee may apply

   

When should you arrange your energy contract?

From the day you receive the keys, you’re responsible for the energy use at your new home. Even if you’re not living there yet.

Tip: Arrange your contract at least 2 weeks in advance. That way, you’ll avoid extra charges or even disconnection.

 

What if you’re too late?

Without a valid energy contract, the grid operator may:

  • Charge you additional fees
  • Disconnect your electricity and gas

If that happens, reconnecting can be expensive. Avoid this: arrange your energy in time!

 

Can you take over the contract from the previous resident or the other way around?

Unfortunately, no. An energy contract is personal. It can’t be transferred to or from someone else. A new signup is required, but don’t worry, it only takes 5 minutes at vrijopnaam.nl/aanmelden.

   

Your Paneelopnaam? It moves with you ☀️

Already using Paneelopnaam? Great choice! Your solar panels come with you. That’s the beauty of producing your own power in a solar park.

   

Will my monthly advance payment change?

Probably. Your energy use at the new address will likely be higher or lower. We’ll adjust your monthly amount accordingly.

The good news? You can always track and manage your energy use and costs in the Vrijopnaam app. Consuming more? Or less? You can update your monthly payment anytime.

Smart questions about moving your energycontract

Via the menu (top right) in the Vrijopnaam app, you can easily submit a change of address. Click on 'Verhuizing doorgeven' (meaning: pass on relocation) and fill in the details. We will then get to work for you!

Do you prefer personal contact? No problem. You can send us an e-mail with your new address and the date of moving. We prefer to know at least two weeks before your moving date when you will need electricity and possibly natural gas in your new home. This way we can process your move in time and determine a new monthly instalment amount. We will subsequently ensure that energy will be on time delivered to your new address.

Fortunately, your Paneelopnaam can simply move with you. Please note: your new monthly instalment amount may differ from the amount you used to have. This is because we determine the monthly amount based on the historical consumption at your (new) address

The monthly installment amount is based on your historical annual consumption and the current applicable rates. We receive your historical annual consumption (also called Standard Annual Consumption or SJV) from the grid operator. It is based on the energy usage at your address in previous years. Using this data, we calculate your expected annual energy costs, including energy taxes, grid fees, and fixed supply charges. The monthly amount is then calculated by dividing the expected annual cost by twelve.

You can easily change your instalment amount via the Vrijopnaam app. To do so, go to 'Jaarchek' (Annual Check). To advise you on a new monthly instalment, we need the usage data of at least four months. That is why it is possible to change your monthly instalment after four months or more via the app.

This app is available as a web app, which means it’s always up to date. Simply type vrijopnaam.app into your browser and log in with your username and password. We recommend creating a shortcut on your phone’s home screen for quick access.
